CGSWebSiteDragonArchitectTwo of our graduate students, Aaron Bauer and Eric Butler have created a fun new program called Dragon Architect. Claiming they have found a dragon that only speaks code, they developed Dragon Architect for ages nine and up to let youngsters help this peculiar creature construct wondrous things in a fun 3D building game. Through the use of Dragon Architect, students learn basic programming concepts to solve puzzles and build 3D structures out of cubes. Give it a try today!


WA Algebra Challenge On the Way

toonannounceWe’re on our way! Today the Center for Game Science is pleased to announce the dates of our newest Algebra Challenge for Washington state:

April 27th – May 1st, 2015!

Featuring our program Riddle Books (previously only available through visits to the Center, as well as our Summer Learning efforts with Seattle Public Libraries and KCLS in 2014), we look forward to starting a brand new chapter in our Algebra Challenge tale with Washington students! We’ll be rolling out full details and signups in the next few weeks on our Challenge site, but we wanted to invite you to share the word with us!


CGS Director Speaks at SXSWedu

zoransxswOur partners Enlearn are in the news this week, recently announcing a deal with Voyager Sopris Learning to create a new product that will aid student’s development in English language arts and reading comprehension. In this picture, CGS Director Zoran Popović addressed SXSWedu Conference and Festival attendees yesterday, discussing “Rapid, Radical Changes in Student Concept Mastery”. Next week, he’ll be the opening keynote speaker at Learning at Scale in Vancouver, BC.

Foldit Nominated for INDEX Award

FolditCheck it out, Foldit has been nominated for a 2015 INDEX: Award, awarded biennially in Denmark.

The INDEX: Award spotlights entries from vastly different design fields showing how design can be used as a tool to solve the issues of global and local societies. Based on the proposed Millennium Development Goals and post-2015 Development Agenda set by the United Nations, Foldit is included in the Play & Learning: Digitalization challenge.
